The Hotel Manin is dedicated to the last doge of the â??Serenissimaâ? Republic, Lucovico Manin, who was born in 1726 and original of a most ancient Tuscan family. The building, the ancient â??Barocciâ? palace built in XIX century on charge of Pellegrino Orefice, is constructed on the site of one of Veniceâ??s seven opera houses, the Teatro Santâ??Angelo, which opened in 1676. From 1714 onwards, Vivaldi staged many operas there. Careful and skilful renovation has restored it to its former glory, paying maximum attention to comfort and atmosphere: the 44 rooms, of which eleven are suites, are very quiet and comfortable, and many have views over the Grand Canal.
