The House Of Madame JoJo has been a locals' favorite Restaurant in Long Beach, California since 1994. Modeled after a bordello by the same name in London, England, the ambience is decidedly sexy. The shimmer of candlelight against copper panels in the dining room adds to the intimate atmosphere, as does the large dimly lit chandelier, and the original art collection known as â??The Bordello Suite.â?
The artwork, selected for the Restaurant at its inception, was created by artist Sharon Montgomery.
Ms. Montgomery spent time in two European Bordellos: one in Belgium, and one in Munchen, Germany. In
Germany, she was allowed to spend the afternoon drawing. The sensuousness the artist felt during those experiences comes across in the artwork she created using various art mediums. About a dozen pieces of art hang in the Restaurant, showing the artists' interpretation of the commaraderie between women in the bordellos. The woman are beautifully painted in various degrees of dress, whether they're receiving a massage from a friend, or painting another woman's nails, and sitting amidst this artwork, makes one feel sexy.
