Welcome to Hudson Bay Helicopters in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. Hudson Bay Helicopters has the distinction of being the oldest Helicopter company in the Canadian sub-Arctic.
For many years polar bear and goose research were the primary functions of Hudson Bay Helicopters. Today, tourism flights, fire suppression and mineral exploration also occupy a lot of time, but not at the expense of the unique animals that brought Hudson Bay Helicopters to prominence.
Although Hudson Bay Helicopters operate 11 different styles of aircraft, we use the Bell Jetranger and Eurocopter Astar exclusively for polar bear tours in Churchill so we can provide each of our passengers with an outstanding flight-seeing tour. The Jetranger sits three and the Astar a maximum of five. In the Jetranger each person has a window seat, one next to the pilot and two in the back of the aircraft. Our minimum passenger load for the Jetranger is three and for the Astar it is four.The Astars, the aircraft of choice of tour operators the world over cocoons passengers in the back with wrap around glass to the sides and front and unlike other aircraft, has no obstructions for viewing forward activity.
