The Keep Military Museum in Dorchester, United Kingdom, exists to present and preserve the history of the Regiments of Devonshire and Dorset and those artefacts held in trust, as a public attraction of excellence, whilst promoting inspiration, and learning'. We are committed to education in the context of schools and as a part of life long learning. To this end, we are developing a number of education packages aimed at school in the counties of Devon and Dorset, from KS2 through KS3/GCSE to A2 level. They will cover aspects of the National Curriculum and the history syllabi of the major examination boards. Although where possible The Keep Military Museum will develop cross-curricular links.
The artefacts, weapons, uniforms, medals and of course the stories of the soldiers and their families and much more are on display over three floors. Computer and digital presentation, realistic battle environments, together with exhibitions, tell the tales of courage humour and sacrifice of the soldiers and their families who have served in the regiments of Devon and Dorset for over 300 years.
The Keep Military Museum in Dorchester has wheelchair access to all display floors by lift. Disabled toilet facilities are available.
The Keep Military Museum charity aim to provide a fine tribute to all those who have served in the regiments of Devon and Dorset and to preserve the memory of both the countys' infantry and yeomanry cavalry. We also have a remit to educate and inform all sectors of the public.
