Welcome to Keith Field Classical Goldsmith, Brunswick, Maine, United States. In October 2002 Keith Field took over ownership of Field?s Jewelry store from his father, Eldon Field, and renamed the store Keith Field Classical Goldsmith. Eldon owned and operated the Jewelry store for 34 years, taking very few vacations. Keith began working in his father?s shop as a teenager primarily repairing Jewelry. "I saw a lot of Jewelry that was broken because it wasn?t made well. That is what really got me." The desire to see quality Jewelry in the Brunswick area is what prompted Keith to begin developing his own line. What began as a simple idea has grown into several lines of Jewelry including Maine Tourmaline, 14k gold, and Charms. These lines are sold locally and throughout New England.
Three simple tools are employed to make Keith?s gold line of Jewelry. The hand, the hammer, and the anvil. This handwork produces a clean crisp line for the eye and a timeless piece for adornment. With his own hands he bends and twists metal wire and sheet into a variety of shapes often incorporating gemstones and beach glass into the design. They have a different look. "I like it because it has a very crisp and clean look. Because each piece is handmade they are well made and unique, unlike a lot of Jewelry that is found in large chain stores."
Keith has received a graduate diploma from the Gemological Institute of America in 1992 and has studied goldsmithing and gold work at Haystack School in Deer Isle, Maine and New York.
