Khublai Khan`s -The most original dining extravaganza in Edinburgh marches on capturing ever more converts with its novel temptations. Faithfully re-creating the style of cooking favoured by marauding 13th century Mongolian warriors, Khublai Khans approaches its 10th anniversary with shields held high.
The owners, brothers Alasdair and Andrew McRobbie, first saw the concept in the Far East; Alasdair, a Virgin Airline pilot, whilst on a trip to Japan; Andrew whilst serving in the Royal Hong Kong Police. Both the brothers loved the concept of offering a unique dining "experienceâ? and knowing nothing like this existed in Scotland they opened Khublai Khans in Leith, Edinburgh in September 1995. The new Restaurant was an instant success (helped by Alasdairâ??s boss, a certain Richard Branson, coming up for the opening and giving the project his seal of approval).
It quickly established itself as THE VENUE for those seeking something genuinely different in Edinburgh. As Alasdair explains, "The Restaurant is great fun, informal and relaxed. It is also perfect for large groups and parties."
