in 1992 the opportunity arose and Kishorn Seafood Bar, Torridon, Scotland, opened in a disused filling station about 100 metres from the present location. Although the premises were tiny, the Restaurant soon established a reputation for good Seafood and snacks. In October 1994 the business closed as the building was due for demolition.
The present building, with stunning views over the sea to Skye on a clear day, opened in April 1996 as Kishorn Seafood Bar, Torridon, Scotland, and since then, the menu, premises, and procedures have developed. In 1999 the Restaurant achieved the Investors In People standard and again in 2001. In 2000 the Restaurant purchased a lobster tank, which has proved very useful, and the Restaurant also became licensed around the same period. Their Seafood Platter is highly popular and has won a Best of Wester Ross Award for 2006 and they also recently appeared in The Independent Magazine, 100 Best Restaurants in the UK.
The emphasis is very much on local shellfish being oysters, prawns and squat lobster from Loch Kishorn. Mussels and queen scallops from Lochcarron and crab, king scallops, lobster, smoked Salmon and Fresh Salmon also obtained locally. These are all simply cooked and served along Spanish lines.
The premises at Kishorn Seafood Bar is open plan so customers can watch and talk to the chef as their meal is prepared.
