Knap Guest House is situated in the heart of the village and is close to many shops, restaurants, galleries, cafes and the bus and ferry terminals to the Islands. Parking is to the front of Knap house or in the nearby car park.
Knap Guest House's rooms have just been completely refurbished and are furnished to the highest standards, with tasteful pine furniture and a delightful Scottish / Thai theme subtly merging the ancient Scottish Clan culture with Asia. Free wifi, satellite TV and fridge (except for the Study Double Room) are provided. All are en suite and the bathrooms are tiled throughout with lovely refreshing ?large head? showers. We have 2 doubles, a king size and a twin bedded room.
Tarbert is situated right in the heart of some of the most beautiful scenery in Scotland and Knap Guest House is in an excellent location for visitors to make it their base to explore this historic area. There are ferries from the heart of the village to the Cowal Peninsula and delightful Tighnabruich. You can also travel from nearby Kennacraig (we are a nearby Bed and Breakfast to Kennacraig) to the famous whisky producing islands of Islay and Jura. Caledonian MacBrayne also sail from nearby Skipness to the Island of Arran known as ?Scotland in miniature? and the ferry from Tayinloan to enchanting Gigha makes for an excellent day out.
The local area offers plenty for everyone to do such as forestry walks or perhaps you might want to do all or part of the Kintyre Way which starts in Tarbert. The walk is over one hundred miles long and meanders from the east to west coasts of Kintyre on its way south. There are also several golf courses. The local course is an enjoyable nine holer.
There are also offers many historic sites such as the magnificent castle at nearby Skipness or the many prehistoric standing stones in Kilmartin Glen, just a short journey to the north.
Local Festivals
During the year there are a number of festivals and events which are of interest to visitors to the area. The Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series is Scotland's largest yacht series and is based in the village. In 2009 the dates are from May 22nd to May 25th and at this time there is a lot going on and Tarbert is very busy. Other events include the Seafood Festival 4th and 5th July 2009 and the Music Festival which is from 18th to the 20th September 2009.
