Welcome to the Kona Chocolate Festival in Hawaii, United States. The mission of the annual Kona Chocolate Festival is to entertain both visitors to and residents of the Big Island; showcase the creative talents of fine Big Island chefs, Chocolatiers, ice cream and candy makers; provide a means to highlight cacao farming and support the Chocolate industry in Hawaii; and raise funds to support education opportunities in video production and the culinary arts on Hawaii Island.
The vision of the Chocolate Symposium is an integrated and educated world of Chocolate and promotion of Hawaiian cacao agriculture. The mission of the symposium is to provide opportunities to engage in hands-on interactive education experiences in the world of cacao and Chocolate. The values of the symposium include sustainability, education, community empowerment, creativity, adventure, and integrity in quality and style, with workshops for the whole community.
Hawaii Farmers are especially welcome to attend a great selection of cacao-grower and Chocolate-lover events hosted by the Kona Chocolate Festival and Kona Pacific Waldorf School. The burgeoning cacao industry in Hawaii encourages new plantings of cacao on local farms - come see best practice suggestions for fermentation of the beans, organic care, inter-plantings, market opportunities and more. Current cacao farmers will benefit from the agricultural and processing expertise of our speakers, and those farmers considering adding cacao to their orchards will gain on-farm experience by seeing how cacao is being successfully grown in Hawaii. Come support this emerging crop and learn about the local-to-international market for the unique niche crop of Hawaiian Cacao.
Our Kona Chocolate Festival Evening Benefit Gala brings together regional Chefs for a Chocolate competition, live music, silent auction, wine, champagne, beer, dancing and decadence, all under the starry Hawaiian skies in our tropical paradise. During the Gala Benefit evening there is cultural entertainment, sponsor booths, Chocolate body art, Chocolate fountain, candy makers, ice cream makers, and more Chocolate than you can imagine.
The Kona Chocolate Festival became known as the rockingest Chocolate party in the islands and the event has grown each year in scale and scope. There has been a Chocolate Symposium added to the Festival as a way to give back to the community with educational Chocolate events. The Symposium is three days of workshops on Chocolate, cacao agriculture, demonstrations in Chocolate working techniques, and tours of local Chocolate factories and cacao farms – the only cacao growing farms in the territorial United States.
