La Casa Rossa Ximenes, or Red House of Ximenes in Castiglione della Pescaia, Tuscany, Italy was built all the way back in 1765-68 by the Jesuit engineer Leonardo Ximenes as part of the reclamation process of the marshland using controlled flooding and deposition with hydraulic control of high waters. Today visitors can see the preserved technological structures, interior and exterior environments, sluices, gates and gearings, all still workable but not in use.
