La Rochelle Brasserie is housed in a distinctive gabled building on a corner site in Porthcawl, it is the setting for one of the most inviting and popular eating places in the region.
Just 100 yards from the seafront, La Rochelle Brasserie has something of the look of a traditional tavern, and spindle-back chairs and glass-topped wooden tables assist the delightful ambience that chef-patron Warren Evans has created.
The main menu at La Rochelle Brasserie is supplemented by a two-course lunch and evening special menus and a pre-theatre menu, and the cooking by Warren and his team shows influences from home, Europe and further afield. Most of the dishes are just that little bit different, showing a winning combination of classic technique and imaginative contemporary touches: duck breast with a honey and raspberry glaze; mussels in creamy chicken broth; king prawns in a sticky garlic and chilli glaze; fresh tuna stuffed with goat's cheese; hickory beef kebab.
Several dishes can be ordered as either starter or main course, and the exceptional food is complemented by an extensive, well-chosen wine list.
