La Torre Restaurant is one of those places that unless someone tells you about it you will probably never go there. It is located in an out of the way place at the far end of the Rinconada which is the old air strip. By old I mean about 20 years ago. Now it is a blvd. with an island of vegetation down the middle and a "shopping mall" on one side. Most of the stores are not habitated but where there are businesses they are busy. La Torre Restaurant is located at the far end of the Blvd. past the strip mall. The Restaurant offers different specials on different nights. The night we were there it was BBQ Ribs. The Texan we were with thought they were very good and that is probably as good as it gets for a recommendation. The sauce was a sweet BBQ concoction that is home made. La Torre Restaurant offers many more items on their menu and I would guess that anybody would be hard pressed to go wrong here. It appears that their specialty is meat. Meat of all kinds from Filet Mignon to New York to Rib Eye to hamburgers.
They offer a full bar so that a before dinner cocktail will be as much as a problem as an after dinner cognac. None! The server was on of the best I have ever encountered in Mexico. In fact he was one of the best I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. When you order he brings out chips and salsa. Since we were very hungry we went thru them rapidly and before we could ask for more there was a new plate on the table and before we were done with those there was another plate even though we were trying to save room for our main meal. He was very accessible yet not intrusive. He really knew how to treat his guests. The ribs came with a rice concoction that had veggies mixed in. It was very well prepared. It is too bad that this Restaurant is located kind of out of the way because it is so good and friendly. Puerto really needs more of this kind of atmosphere. We say you must check it out.
