This purpose-built lodge is furnished with English and European antiques and paintings, a magnificent 17th century tapestry and beautiful porcelain and glass. Meals are served in the dining room at the 18th century dining table laid with Georgian silver, Spode china and fine period glassware and linen. One of the rooms is specially equipped to also be suitable for disabled guests.

The large swimming pool and sun bathing deck is north facing and overlooks the beautiful lake, native bush and horse-friendly paddock. Horse riding, golf, deep sea fishing and diving are all available within a short distance from Lake House Boutique Homestay in Whangarei. We are close to the kauri forests on the west coast and to wonderful east coast beaches and bush and mountain walks.

Escape to Lake House to relax, be indulged, unwind, or to celebrate a special event. Whatever your interest, come and enjoy the tranquility and the beautiful setting, the splendid food and the friendly company.

Breakfast is served either in the dining room or al fresco as desired (or the weather dictates). A three or four course dinner is available with prior notice. We use New Zealand?s wonderfully fresh produce found around Northland and Whangarei.

Lake House Homestay is situated near a man-made lake, used by local farmers to irrigate their crops in times of water shortage. Its tranquil waters are home to a great number of native birds, wild ducks and water fowl - we have even seen black swans - as well as being fringed in part by native bush. Nearby Mount Maungatapere is covered in native bush, and is home to a number of indigenous birds including kiwi and its crater is filled with primeval forest. The mountain is believed to have last erupted about 800 years ago.
