Welcome to the Largest Beach Front Garden, Santos, Brazil. The beach is bordered by a garden 5.3 km (3.3 miles) long. It has a total area of 218,800 sq m (2,355,143 sq ft) and the green belt is separated by six canals.
The Largest Beach Front Garden, Santos, Brazil, is so gigantic that it has 38 people looking after it all year round. The first part of the Garden was completed in 1939 by the Czechoslovakian gardener Carlos Colarquis. In the 1950s, the size of the beachfront avenue was doubled and a decade later the Mayor, Silvio Clemente, asked a Garden guru to develop something even more amazing. The final changes to the Garden took place in 1972 and 1976.
The Largest Beach Front Garden has 719 flowerbeds and 1,746 trees of 20 different species. The path running through the Garden is 5,247 m (17,214 ft) long. The Garden is also jam-packed with statues, including a monument of Christopher Columbus and another remembering the first Europeans to arrive in Brazil.
