London Bridge Eatery & Pub originated when Martin and Ginger Readion, noticing that the only pubs in the area were at the beach or in St. Augustine, decided to bring their new venture to the heart of the city. Filled with memorabilia, the pub and its staff delight in the use of British trivia to enhance the cozy atmosphere. Little inside jokes can be found throughout the Restaurant, and weâ??ll let you in on the biggest joke of all the pubâ??s logo. While the Restaurant is named after the famous London Bridge, all of the signs feature a picture of Londonâ??s Tower Bridge. An error on the part of the owners? Certainly not. In the 1960â??s the original London Bridge was sinking into the Thames river, and the British government put it up for sale. An entrepreneur struck a fine bargain and paid for the old bridge to be dismantled and reconstructed in Lake Havasu City, Arizonaâ??an excellent deal, until he realized that the bridge he purchased was relatively plain concrete and the famously ornate Tower Bridge was still in London guarding the Thames!
