Waldron for the daughters of retailer Andrew Lees, Mahara Bed & Breakfast is one of two Edwardian homes built side by side in 1905. Still retaining its Queen Anne revival features, Mahara Bed & Breakfast now offers two guestrooms upstairs. The carved staircase ascends to a cathedral-size stained-glass window created by Robert Henry Frazer and other historic features include the ornate plaster ceilings, carved archways, open fireplaces and bay windows in original sash style with leadlights.
Mahara Bed & Breakfast is located in one of Dunedin's finest areas with easy access to shopping (3 minutes) art galleries, Olveston historic house, the Taieri Gorge Railway, Moana Pool, gymnasium and walking tracks.
There are many things to tempt and charm in Dunedin , hip cafes and cutting edge restaurants, the Royal albatross colony, yellow eyed penguins, golf courses, Scottish heritage and magnificent Victorian architecture including Larnach castle.
Mahara Bed & Breakfast has two bedrooms available and both have high quality bedding, bathrobes, heating, direct dial phone, ironing facilities, fresh flowers and port for your indulgence. A clawfoot bath, separate shower and heated towel rails are all features of the luxuriously appointed private bathroom.
Breakfast is served in the grand drawing room. Be warmed near the open fire in winter and enjoy a breakfast which is both generous and tasty in either continental or farmhouse.
