Welcome to Maine Watsu Therapy, Blue Hill, Maine, United States. At Maine Watsu Therapy, Blue Hill, we teach Watsu, or Water Shiatsu, is a form of aquatic therapy which quiets the mind, relaxes the body and opens the heart. It is a uniquely nurturing combination of massage, yoga-like stretches, Traeger, fascia release, and point work carried out in 96 degree water.
The weightless environment of the water allows for graceful, fluid, ribbon-like movements which mobilize the joints, free the neck, spine and pelvis; soothe tired aching muscles; reduce chronic pain, and offer a gentle place to work through anxiety and grief.
The serene atmosphere creates what has been referred to by many as "instant meditation." Alpha states are entered, providing the body with the deep rest it needs to rejuvenate and heal itself. Movement and stillness dance in harmony with the breath as one is invited to completely let go.
Watsu and Waterdance Therapy promote peace, joy and therapeutic release. As the mind quiets, the breath and heart rate slow down. Time and place temporarily recede. In water, there are opportunities to stretch, massage, and hold the body in ways not available during a standard table massage.
