The Mangawhai Heads Volunteer Lifeguard Service provides lifeguard patrols at Mangawhai Heads on weekends and public holidays - provides a 24-7, 365 days, callout team for rescue emergencies - complements weekend volunteer patrols over the peak summer season by providing a Monday-Friday service employing three highly trained lifeguards - operates a coastal Search and Rescue unit using an 18-foot rigid hull inflatable offshore rescue boat. This unit responds to boating, diving and bar crossing emergencies as well as emergency response to adjacent coastal swimming areas.
