Opened in August 1993 by Mike and Elaine "Margot" Meredith, we were originally called Bistro Margot Thomas. The change to just "Margot's" is a tribute to Elaine, who died in 1998, a woman of great humour, passion and strong language. Adrian and Julie joined in 1996 and bought the bistro in January 1999. The aims remain the same; to produce fresh food in an informal and friendly setting.
The menu can change daily, or even hourly. We work with local suppliers as much as possible, using the best produce we can find on a daily basis. If you have any particular requests, then don't be shy, the worst that can happen is we say no!. Advance notice means the more we can offer. Vegetarians are catered for, even if you do not see dishes on the menu. We prefer to cook for veggies individually, rather than offering them nut cutlets.
