Welcome to Martin Hill Inn, the first Bed and Breakfast in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, in the United States. The Martin Hill Inn has been welcoming guests from around the world to this vibrant and historic city since 1978. Located just a ten minute walk from the heart of Market Square, the land on which Martin Hill Inn is situated was sold by New Hampshire Lt. Gov. George Vaughn to the Martin family in 1710 for 50 British pounds. Over the years, this area of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, became known as Martin Hill.
Martin Hill Inn consists of two buildings connected by brick walkways and a lush water garden. The Main House, circa, 1815, contains three guest rooms furnished with period furniture including queen-size canopy or four-poster beds. The Guest House, circa 1850, contains four rooms with queen-size canopy, spindle, or iron and brass beds. All guest rooms have private bathrooms and are air-conditioned for your comfort.
Martin Hill Inn serves a full breakfast each morning. Guests have their own off-street, paved parking lot adjoining the gardens. The Inn is within walking distance of shops, waterfront, award winning restaurants and historical attractions in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
The Inn is entirely smoke-free.
Martin Hill Inn offers two room categories, Traditional and Premium. All rooms have private bathroom, queen-size bed, writing table and a sofa or separate sitting area. Distinctive wallpapers and window treatments accent the attention to detail and help provide each room with its own character. Air conditioning insures that each of our guests will enjoy a comfortable night's rest. All room rates include a full gourmet breakfast.
