Ocean and Haleakala Mountain Views Provided
The Mana Kai Maui is a 98 unit building built in 1973 by a group of United Airlines pilots who were familiar with Maui. Site lines from the rooms are perfect, reflecting the experience of the pilots.
Lush Tropical Vegetation Provided
Suite 215 is on the second floor. High enough to see the ocean looking to the right and then sweeping 180 degrees you can see Haleakala too. But not so high to loose the intimacy of the lush tropical vegetation. If such a building was proposed to be built today, we are told permits would not be allowed. The Maui Mana Kai is very close to the ocean as you can see from the WebCam. No road separates the Mana Kai from the ocean, as compared to most rental condos.
But don't worry, the magical island of Maui has never been hit by a hurricane!
Sounds of the Ocean to Lull you to Sleep, Provided
Mana Kai means "Spirit of the Sea". The story says it was an area of ancient sanctuary for Hawaiians who were in trouble. If they went here, they would be safe. So will you. Safe to sleep while the waves lap on the soft, white sand beach. The Maui Mana Kai also served as a debarkation point for cattle being moved from Maui to Kahoolawe. The remains of the dock are sometimes visible during short periods when it is not covered with the finest and softest sand you have ever felt in the world.
