Mayville
High School is a small, independent school situated close to the
seafront in Southsea, United Kingdom. Mayville High School is a Registered Charity no 286347
and a not for profit business, therefore every penny of profit goes
back into the education of our pupils, and the improvement of our
facilities.
Founded in 1897, Mayville High School now consists of a Nursery Department for babies and children from 6
months - 4, a Pre-prep Department which takes boys and girls from 4 -
7, a Junior School for girls and boys from 7 - 11, and a Senior School,
which accepts girls and boys until they are 16.
Whilst
these departments operate autonomously, Mayville High School believes that the continuity
available is of great benefit to the children and we meet together for
special events such as Harvest Festival, Christmas activities, our
annual Summer Fair, Sports Days, Drama Productions and other
celebrations. Senior pupils enjoy a caring relationship with younger
members of the school.
At
the core of Mayville High School's philosophy is the knowledge that it is the happy
child who will learn, the confident pupil with high self-esteem who
will best fulfil his or her academic potential. Each child at Mayville High School
is a valued member of our community in Southsea, regardless of academic ability and
our aim is that through flexible teaching, varied resources, support
programmes and high expectations, we endeavour to meet the needs of
each individual and help them to achieve both academically and in other
areas of the curriculum.
Mayville High School
pupils are part of a caring community in Southsea and are taught to respect and
support each other. From our secure base they learn to meet the
challenges of the wider world. Education is a three way process
involving the school, the child and parents and we encourage parents to
be involved with their child's school life.
