Melrose House began life as a hotel and in 1984 it was converted into a Residential Home for the elderly, making every effort to retain its Edwardian character, notwithstanding the stringent requirements necessary to satisfy the Registration Authority. All parts of Melrose House used by the residents is easily accessible as there are no split-levels or steps to negotiate and all floors are served by a full-sized, eight-person, automatic passenger lift. Melrose House has an attractive garden and patio that face south and has been landscaped for the special use of all residents. Melrose House,Residential Home provides accommodation for twenty nine residents and is a registered provider with the National Care Standards Commission, whose officers carry out a thorough inspection of the home and its operation every year.
