Welcome to the Merewood Country House Hotel in Windermere, England, United Kingdom. Merewood was built in 1812 for the son of the 1st Earl of Lonsdale. The house was built with stone quarried in the Hotel grounds and retains many original features. These include the beautifully panelled hall and reception with its glorious stained glass and magnificent fireplace and the silk-lined drawing room.
The Hotel stands in 20 acres of landscaped gardens, woodland and meadow. Terraced gardens fall towards the lake each revealing a new variation of the incomparable view of lake and mountain. Hidden in the woodland is a famously magnificent multi-trunked chestnut. Red and roe deer run freely through the woods and across the terraced lawns and the estate is one of the bastions of the red squirrel.
The Hotel has 20 en-suite bedrooms. Many rooms at the front of the house have exceptional views across the lake to the Coniston Fells. All rooms are fully appointed with twin, double, king size or four poster beds, direct dial telephones, television, radio-alarm and tea and coffee making facilities.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Merewood Country House Hotel, Windermere, England, United Kingdom.
