The MetroHealth, System is one of the largest, most comprehensive Medical and Healthcare providers in Northeast Ohio, United States, serving the medical needs of the Greater Cleveland community for 170 years. MetroHealth Medical Centre,provides care to nearly 28,000 inpatients, including more than 3,400 newborns annually. More than 700,000 visits are recorded each year in the medical centre’s outpatient centres. Patient visits to the emergency department exceed 91,000.
MetroHealth’s Critical Care Pavilion, opened in 2004, being one of the nation’s most technologically advanced centres for emergency medicine, trauma, and surgical care and a facility on par with MetroHealth’s standing as Cleveland’s highest-accredited trauma centre.
MetroHealth continually strives to create an environment that attracts prominent physicians and researchers. MetroHealth’s Charles H. Rammelkamp, Jr., M.D., Center for Education and Research houses education and research programs, including laboratories, support areas, classrooms, and a 10,300-square-foot medical library.
MetroHealth’s Outpatient Plaza, on the campus of the medical centre, consists of four pavilions each dedicated to a specialty area.
Rehabilitation Pavilion - offers a range of rehabilitative programs, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, industrial medicine and speech and hearing services.
Women’s and Children’s Pavilion - encompasses all outpatient services for women and children, including paediatrics, obstetrics (normal and high-risk), gynaecology, child care services and a foetal diagnostic centre.
Specialty Services Pavilion - provides a variety of medical and surgical specialties, including cardiology, orthopaedics, rheumatology, geriatrics, gastroenterology, neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and otolaryngology.
Cancer Care Pavilion - consolidates MetroHealth’s outpatient cancer care programs and services, including chemotherapy and radiation therapy, into one convenient location.
Each pavilion maintains its own reception and waiting area in addition to support services such as radiology and pharmacy. Each pavilion is equipped with elevators that extend to an underground 400-car parking garage for easy access.
MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute of Ohio is the largest hospital-based rehabilitation program in the state with 143 inpatient beds and a wide variety of outpatient services. Located on the campus of MetroHealth Medical Centre, it offers a full range of physical, occupational and speech therapies as well as therapeutic recreation, art therapy, vocational services, audio logical evaluation and social services.
Specialised programs are designed to assist people recovering from amputation, arthritis, burns, geriatric disorders, head injuries, industrial injuries, major multiple trauma, neurological diseases, orthopaedic problems, spinal cord injuries or strokes. The Institute’s mission to provide high-quality Medical and healthcare is further enhanced by its long tradition of excellence in teaching and clinical research. Innovative research in restoring function through electrical stimulation is an integral component of the centre’s work.
