Welcome to Michael James Brown, Photography, Surfers Paradise, Australia. Michael James Brown has been passionate about Photography since he was a young man shooting with his father’s Canon SLR. A self-taught photographer Michael has been pursuing his dream of capturing the perfect image over the past ten years.

In November 2002 Michael purchased his panoramic medium format camera of choice, the FujiGX617 and since then has been primarily shooting on this wide format. Michael loves the 3:1 ratio of this format and has used it to shoot numerous landscape locations over the last five years.  Michael and his wife Lisa have traveled extensively overseas to internationally renowned locations such as Paris, London, Venice, Santorini, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast just to name a few.  Michael's images have impressed the UK’s best landscape photographers and were included in their landscape Photography masterclass book called "Working the Light"(2006) and more recently in the follow up book “Developing Vision and Style”.

In 2007 Michael undertook one of his biggest projects to date capturing hero images of six of the major cities in Australia and New Zealand for the electricity giant Siemens.  In 2008 Michael has been commissioned to work with the worldwide charity Samaritans Purse to help gather images for a book that captures the beauty and hope in a number of the countries that they bring aid to in South East Asia and the South Pacific.  In 2008, for the second year in a row, Michael has won gold awards in the world acclaimed international photographic competition known as the Trierenberg Super Circuit. "Taxi Rank, Venice" won a gold medal in the Photo Travel section of the competition and "Shorncliffe Pier, Brisbane won a gold medal in the Panorama section. Michael and Lisa have been invited to attend the awards ceremony held in Linz, Austria in October. In 2007 Michael won a gold award for "Tuscan Sun."

Michael captured this image on his trip to Thailand in January for the Samaritan's Purse project. This is the first year Michael has entered the highly contested Australian Photography Awards.  Michael and Lisa opened their first gallery Michael James Brown, in August 2006 at the Riverside Centre, Brisbane and relocated to their current gallery in Q1,Surfers Paradise in January 2008.
