Newfoundland Shore Tours,originates from Bay Roberts, a small town on the Baccalieu Trail on the Avalon Peninsula, about 100 km from the capital, St. John's. The Avalon Peninsula, which is home to more than 50% of the province's population, has a history that goes back thousands of years. It is the site of the first English colony in Canada - Cupers Cove which was settled by John Guy in 1610. (In 2006, the archaeological site was named one of the Top Ten Active Archaeological Sites in Canada" by The Beaver, ‘Canada’s History Magazine.’)
