Welcome to the official website of the historic 20" gauge North Bay Railway in Scarborough North Yorkshire in the United Kingdom.
North Bay Railway has been operating since 1931, running for around 3/4 of a mile from Peasholm Park to Scalby Mills stations, offering beautiful views of Scarborough North Yorkshire's North Bay.
The line is now operated by the North Bay Railway, and as well as a Railway, there is plenty more now on offer, including a newly built bistro and shop.  So why not come and visit us at North Bay Railway?
A total of 8, 20 and 21inch gauge locomotives were built by Hudswell Clarke of Leeds, Neptune being the first locomotive which operated the North Bay Railway line for the first season, in which over 400 000 passengers were carried.  Joined by Triton a year later, the line has continued running every year since, with exception during the Second World War.
In 2006 the line was leased to North Bay Railway from the Scarborough Council and in 2007 the permanent operation of the line was handed over to North Bay Railway from the Scarborough Borough Council.
Many improvements are now underway to the line.   Since the change of operation two other locomotives, Poseidon and Robin Hood were brought to the Railway, making the North Bay Railway home of the 4 oldest Hudswell Clarke locomotives of 20/21" gauge.
