The North Carolina Seafood Festival in Morehead City, is a not-for-profit organisation that holds a wonderful annual Festival, the first weekend in October, to celebrate and recognise the importance of Seafood to eastern North Carolina. There's fun and free Entertainment the whole weekend, and you won't go hungry, they serve everything from traditional “Down East” Clam Chowder, Shrimp Burgers and Charcoal Mullet to Sea Urchin on a stick, Calamari and Marinated Eel and much more. Enjoy the Habitat for Humanity Fish Fry, the 100 individual booths sponsored by restaurants, civic organizations, school groups and churches all featuring their own interpretation of the bounty of the sea, you certainly won't go hungry. The North Carolina Seafood Festival's main goal is to promote the Seafood industry on the Carolina coast, and to educate the public about Seafood as well as boost tourism and recreation, establish a scholarship program for educational pursuits and more. But serious stuff aside, the Festival is about fun, interactive exhibits and demonstrations, along with live animals, storytelling, Seafood sampling and much more, not to be missed.
