Welcome to Norwich Cathedral in Norwich, United Kingdom. For over 900 years this iconic building has stood as a witness to the glory of God. The Norwich Cathedral is a building that has always been greatly loved by the people of Norfolk. During its first 450 years it formed part of a thriving Benedictine monastery serving the needs of the monks and other worshippers, pilgrims, travellers, and scholars as well as the people of Norfolk. The work of today's Cathedral community remains grounded in the principles of its Benedictine founders namely worship , hospitality, and learning.
Through the generosity of individuals, churches, trusts and businesses we have now raised £10 million for a new Refectory and Hostry on the sites of the equivalent monastic buildings. Both are designed to help deliver Benedictine principles in the new millennium. The award winning Refectory Restaurant and Coffee Shop opened in 2004. During the day it serves delicious, locally sourced food to visitors and local businesses while at night it hosts special interest evenings and caters for private events. Building work has just begun at Norwich Cathedral on the Hostry Visitors' and Education Centre which will provide superb new facilities for education, exhibitions and community events, and the choir.
All are welcome at Norwich Cathedral, worshippers, pilgrims, tourists, those seeking refreshment or keen to learn, people of all faiths and none. We very much look forward to welcoming you and hope that you enjoy your visit to Norwich Cathedral in Norwich.
