The NRSO Camerata's in repertoire spans a variety of musical styles, both classical and popular. Although firmly focused on the traditional chamber Orchestra Baroque and Classical era works by composers such as Vivaldi, Bach, Handel and Mozart, the Camerata also enjoys playing modern music. Recent concerts have combined performances of concertos by Handel or Albinoni with arrangements of popular selections from musicals such as 'Les Miserables', film scores and jazz tunes by Fats Waller. The Camerata also performs 20th Century works such as the Capriol Suite by Peter Warlock.
Recent venues for NRSO Camerata performances include the Tweed Heads Civic Centre, the A. and I. Hall in Bangalow, and the Byron Bay Community Centre. The Camerata was also recently featured at the opening ceremony for the Murwillumbah Art Centre in Murwillumbah Australia. The comparatively small size of the group affords the flexibility to perform in venues which cannot accommodate the full Symphony Orchestra. In this way, the NRSO hopes to reach communities which would otherwise be unable to experience the thrill of a live classical performance.
As of 2004, the NRSO has also formed several new string chamber groups, including the Goldberg Trio, the Gabrielli Quartet, and the Geminiani Quintet.
