Welcome to The Oakland Zoo, United States. The Oakland Zoo is a non-profit organisation, managed by the East Bay Zoological Society. Founded in 1922 by Henry Snow, the Oakland Zoo has been located in its current Knowland Park location since 1936. Nestled in the rolling hills of 525-acre Knowland Park, the Zoo is located at 9777 Golf Links Rd., Oakland off Highway 580, and is home to more than 440 native and exotic animals.The Oakland Zoo is open daily from 10am to 4pm and closed for Thanksgiving and Christmas.The children's rides area, train, and sky ride open at 11am. In the event of inclement weather, the Oakland Zoo may be forced to close.The Oakland Zoo welcomes individuals with disabilities and is committed to ensuring that the Zoo grounds, facilities and programmes are accessible to all visitors. While the Zoo generally prohibits any non-Zoo animals from entering the Zoo and park grounds, exceptions are made for individuals with disabilities who bring their service animals to the Zoo.
Picnics are available and The Snow Building, a spacious hall, accommodates 250 people, has a fully equipped kitchen, and offers a spectacular view of the San Francisco Bay. It is a great place for receptions, meetings, and parties. The auditorium and classrooms in the Maddie's Centre for Science and Education are also available for day-time rentals. Children's birthday party packages and other special packages are available.
