The Winery restaurant is housed in the original stables. The old timbers have been retained and the atmosphere is intimate and relaxing.A feature of the restaurant is the courtyard dining area, a little enclave in a garden setting. In summertime a classical guitarist plays in this area on sunny Sundays. Local artists also exhibit their work at the restaurant.
The food is predominantly Mediterranean in influence, but with a strong New Zealand slant. All the food is made in the restaurant kitchen, right down to the herb butters, vinaigrettes and the pickles on the platters.
Popular favourites include platters of New Zealand cheeses and meats, served with hot bread; a Greek salad that oozes olives and the restaurant marinated feta; winter soups; smoked fish and kumara pie, which has been flavoured with rosemary plus much more. A range of home made dessert cakes, served with cream, rounds off the meals. Of course the food is designed to complement the range of Wines.
