At Ohio State University School of Earth Sciences, COLUMBUS, Ohio, we offer a solid foundation in science and mathematics that includes course work in a diverse range of specializations covering every facet of earth and environmental sciences. Our faculty conduct research in a broad range of areas, including biogeochemistry, earth system science, geochemistry, geodetic science, geomicrobiology, glaciology, hydrogeology, igneous and metamorphic processes, mineralogy and ore deposits, paleontology, polar geology, seismology, and tectonics.
There are currently 37 M.S. and 32 Ph.D. students enrolled in the department, with many participating in interdisciplinary programs. On average, 38% of students who receive their M.S. degree in the department go on to earn a PhD. Other graduates find successful appointments in a variety of careers. Presently, the environmental industry is the largest employer of graduates from our department.
