Incorporated in 1976, the Orcas Theatre and Community Center is a multifaceted non-profit organization with 501 (c) (3) status located on Orcas Island in the San Juan archipelago.
During the first ten years, the Orcas Center rented the local Grange Hall for its activities, but in 1986, and after four years of fundraising, the design and construction of the present building was completed.
Without the combined will and physical labor of hundreds of local residents, Orcas Center would not exist!
The facility features a 213-seat Theatre; a multi-purpose community room, a fully equipped kitchen, offices, and a beautiful lobby that functions as a gallery for the visual arts.
In 1999, the Center embarked upon a capital campaign to expand, renovate and endow its services to the community. That campaign was completed in 2005 and has added rehearsal space, costume and other storage, a shop area, improved dressing facilities, and classroom space.
Orcas Center is a membership organization of over 1700 islanders and is governed by a 15-member Board of Trustees.
