Welcome to Pólar Hestar Akureyri, Iceland.
Pólar Hestar is a family business. About 70 horses live with us during the whole year and during the months of June, July and August some other 20 join the herd. We ride through remote valleys to the North Atlantic and with a herd of freely running horses to Lake Myvatn, the famous lake of the midges.
In the autumn, when the first snow-flakes are announcing winter, our guests may experience our new riding tour "Autumn Colours and Northern Lights" - a fascinating tour through the autumnal landscape of Northern Iceland.
The Pólar Hestar Akureyri, riding tours are different length and suitable for experienced and less experienced riders.
At Grytubakki farmhouse there are sleeping bag accommodations in 2 - 4 bed rooms.
During the rides we sleep at farmhouses, in mountain huts, schools, community centers and tents.
On the way our guests sleep in 2 or more bed rooms and sometimes everybody sleeps in the same big hall on mattresses.
