Many visitors walk up to the top of Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. For the less energetic the Snowdon Mountain Railway Station is about 10 minutes walk away from the Hotel and you can take the train to the top.
The area used to be very well known for producing roofing slates and the former quarrying has left an indelible and strikingly beautiful mark on the landscape. The rich history of the quarrying industry is well documented in the Slate Quarry Museum which is just a few minutes walk from the Hotel. Padarn Lake itself is also close to Padarn Lake Hotel. There is boating on the lake and the lakeside is just a lovely place to sit and take in the scenery.
Modern technology means the area boasts one of the first pumped storage electricity generating stations, not a mark on the landscape but the Electric Mountain experience that tells you all about it, and takes you close to it, is only five minutes walk away from the Hotel.
There are numerous gift shops and local crafts outlets in the village too.
Llanberis is an excellent base for touring Snowdonia and North Wales.
Bangor is a thriving University town recognised as a centre of excellence for learning, with plenty of shopping and leisure activities on hand. The Cathedral and the National Trust owned Penrhyn Castle are but two of the attractions to be found at Bangor.
