Pajaro Valley Golf Club was built in 1922 by Floyd McFarland and updated by Robert Muir Graves in 1975, the course lies just to the east of crashing ocean waves, between Monterey and Santa Cruz. Lined by Monterey Cypress trees, the rolling fairways dip into Elkhorn Slough, a natural bird and animal habitat.
Once the home to former U.S. Open champion Olin Dutra, the spacious course features small, well-protected greens and elevated tees, which offer scenic views of the Pajaro Valley. Janet Davis-Ortego, returns to Pajaro Valley Golf Club after three years as the Head Golf Professional at Los Lagos Golf Course in San Jose, CA. During the 2001-02 season, she was Pajaro Valley Golf Club's First Assistant. A 1988 graduate of Purdue University, with a degree in Retail Management, Janet played varsity Golf three years for the Boilermakers. Janet turned professional in 1988 and obtained her membership in the PGA of America in 1992. She since has been the Head Golf Professional at two facilities in Indiana and was the first woman elected to the Indiana PGA Board of Directors, where she served on the Board from 1997-2001.
