In January 2001, Daniel & Jill Slayden purchased the small Restaurant from Jim & Carol Parcell to allow the Parcells to devote their skills exclusively to catering. The change in ownership was barely noticed. Two years later, the popular eatery has undergone a visible change and expansion that more than doubled the seating capacity. The most recent addition is their hand dipped ice cream, milkshakes, floats and more.
Slayden grew up in the Restaurant business, his father Mark Slayden owned Robertoâ??s in Benton during the 70â??s & early 80â??s. During college Daniel was also the kitchen manager at the Brass Lantern in Aurora.
Daniel & Jill have been married 12 years and have one daughter Carson Grace Slayden who is 4. Jill is a Speech Language Pathologist employed with the Marshall County School system. They attend and are active in church at Christian Fellowship in Briensburg. Daniel is also a board member at the Haven of Hope pregnancy center in Benton.
Parcell's Deli & Grille has 14 employees who Slayden says have been and are a major part of the Restaurants success. Visit them to dine in or call ahead for a carry out.
