Get up close to our Drysdale Ram "Ram-man" who eats out of your hand. Taking place in an authentic Kiwi Shearing Shed you will experience a Traditional Sheep Shearing Show including information on wool types, sheep breeds, tools and equipment of the past.
Enjoy the atmosphere of The Point Sheep Shearing shed, the family's third generation original shearing shed. We promise a typically traditional kiwi experience, suitable for all ages, full of fun and interesting information. The Point Sheep Shearing Show is a "hands on" experience with daily shows at 1-30pm and 4pm.
The main breed of Sheep at The Point is Drysdale and there are other breeds as well. The Point Sheep Shearing farm was originally 600 acres (the Kaikoura Peninsula) and farmed 2000 sheep. Today there is 90 acres of land on Kaikoura's well known Peninsula and there are 300 sheep.
When visiting the Point Sheep Shearing in Kaikoura, not only do you get to experience the atmosphere of an original sheep shearing show in a authentic shearing shed but you also see the magnificent views of where the mountains meet the sea. Uniquely located on the road to the Kaikoura seal colony the shed is one of New Zealand's top places to visit. Come along and enjoy the show and the views.
