Prince William Sound Eco-Charters was established in 2000 by a seasoned captain, familiar with the Sound and the winds and seas that affect it. Whether your interests lie in fishing, sightseeing, transportation to cabins or other destinations around the Sound, or even photography and kayak hauling, please give us a chance to meet your needs.
The owner, Captain Dave, retired from the National Weather Service in May, 2003 (after a very rewarding 35 year career). He has been recognized for many outstanding weather-related achievements, including being the only Alaskan to have ever received the National Weather Association's "Forecaster of the Year" award. He also was the driving force behind establishment of the "Alaska Weather Line", allowing toll-free access to marine and public weather forecasts and observations. In 1999, along with Bill Benning of the U.S. Coast Guard, he came up with the unique idea of rebroadcasting NOAA Weather Radio from the Coast Guard "high sites". Thanks to the Coast Guard and the National Weather Service, this has now become a highly successful reality across many areas of Alaska.
