McLaren Vale's Mediterranean climate attracts lovers of olives and vines, a region where producers of every kind flourish. David Arbon and Tori Moreton have been amongst these passionate regional producers for many years, as biological farmers of fruits making wine, olive oil, preserves, verjuice, vinegar and apple cider.
Nigel Rich head chef of d'Arry's Verandah Restaurant is a regular Guest Chef at Producers sharing Tori and David's passion for regional produce and flavours.
Producers is our way of sharing the McLaren Vale life with guests - winemaking, olive oil, pickling, preserving the fruits of the farm, baking, fish off the coast and regional produce from across the Peninsula.
he Producers grow for flavour, with a holistic approach to agriculture where care of the environment, wildlife and future of the region are part of everyday management. Making our wine begins with allowing the vines to flourish in harmony with the soil, climate and season, like our 80 year old Shiraz grapes that are dry grown and in balance.
The Producers operate with biological principles, that means we look after the environment, nurture the soil, no pesticides are used, we practice zero tillage and bring out the best flavour and quality by dry growing or use minimal watering when necessary. Over 250 fruit and nut trees are the source of our range of premium products. Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Greek Koroneiki (packed full of flavour), French fruity Verdale and Italian golden Frantoio (Tuscan). Pickled olives from Greek Kalamata, Verdale and Spanish Queen. Seasonal offerings include Almonds, Oranges, Lemons, Mandarins, Quinces, Pears, Apples, Walnuts, Mulberries, Plums, Apricots, Nashi, Fijoa, and Figs.
The Free Range Chickens provide a bounty of the-best-ever-eggs for our Menu and Guest breakfasts.
Native flora and fauna features ancient gum trees with recent plantings of native understorey; grasses and ground cover lining the winter creek attract native fauna, an abundant bird life including a resident family of kangaroos.
