The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA)  in San Jose, CA, United States, seeks to engage Bay Area audiences through innovative visual art exhibitions and educational programs.  The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art reflects and interprets the cultural and technical diversity of the region and helps us see the lives we are living through the art of our time.  The exhibitions and programs are designed to build community-to make a space where people of all backgrounds and ages may explore challenging contemporary art and ideas in an engaging and lively atmosphere.

The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art presents forward-looking, thought-provoking, and exciting contemporary art by emerging and established Bay Area artists. The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art's mission is to promote greater awareness, understanding, and appreciation of contemporary art and its capacity to stimulate our imaginations and illuminate our lives, relationships, and communities.

The ICA's new Print Center provides a studio in the South Bay for education, experimentation and production of artworks in a progressive printmaking environment located within one of the region's leading contemporary art venues.

The Print Center is equipped with a Charles Brand electric etching press with a 32 x 60 inch bed. The studio has all the necessary equipment and tools for monotype and intaglio with either oil-based or water-soluble inks. We use an acrylic ground etching method in ferric chloride and endeavor to use non-toxic and safe methods and materials whenever available. The studio accommodates 6 artists.

The San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art's Print Center also hosts an artist-in-residence program. Each year four established artists are invited to participate in self-designed residencies. These artists work directly with our master printer to create a suite of monotypes, an edition of etchings, an artist book, or another print-based project of their choosing.
