Secret Woods Nature Center in Dania Beach, Florida, USA has three vegetative communities including a freshwater cypress maple wetland, a pond apple mangrove community along the river, and a laurel oak hammock community further inland. This was the first Nature Center opened in Broward County, and is a 57 acre site now designated as an urban wilderness area. Walk through the beautiful butterfly garden with plant species that attract butterflies, and there's the mulched Laurel oak nature trail with a series of bridges that carry you to a tidal path and back with stunning flora and fauna along the way, and there's a the New River boardwalk trail constructed almost entirely from recycled plastic lumber. The Secret Woods Nature Center has an environmental education classroom where talks are hosted for groups, and the Monarch Interpretive Center offers displays and hands on activities complete with working beehive, and the rustic Julia Hall with fully equipped kitchen and adjacent open air amphitheater is great for group events and celebrations, it's all here and more.
