Sheffield Botanical Gardens in Sheffield, offers visitors a peaceful, tranquil sanctuary away from the cares and stresses of modern day life. The Gardens were originally opened in 1836, and span over 19 acres of ground which currently house fifteen different garden areas with collections of plants from all over the world. Sheffield Botanical Gardens also contain several listed buildings including the Glass Pavilions which were restored and officially reopened in 2003. The Gardens provide a wealth of information for enthusiastic gardeners as well as beginners, and also host many events and tours. At Sheffield Botanical Gardens there is something of interest for all visitors, either in the Gardens or any of the other activities available, and entrance to the Gardens is free. One of the biggest attractions is the annual Art in the Gardens, when the Gardens are completely transformed into an art village, and visitors get to enjoy, and buy, the exhibits on diisplay. What a wonderful way to spend a day in the tranquil outdoors.
