The Ship in Dock Inn is an old riverside inn in Dartmouth, Devon, United Kingdom, that was recently acquired by Linda McCartney and Jim Brent and it has been refurbished to a very high standard and now offers luxury accommodation. The bedrooms at The Ship in Dock Inn are furnished in solid oak and have the extras you would expect of a top hotel such as Kingsize beds, Superking feather and down quilts, Egyptian cotton, flatscreen TV/DVD and some of the best river views in Dartmouth. The bathrooms are period in style, but encompass the best in bathing technology. The Egyptian cotton towels add to the feeling of comfort and luxury.
The Ship in Dock Inn was originally built in the 17th century and partially re-built in 1871.
The inn was originally built to service the merchants, craftsmen, masters and crews engaged on the adjacent quay, which was known as ?Hardness? and overlooked a river inlet called ?Coombe Mud?. During World War 2, the Americans filled in and reclaimed Coombe Mud and used it as a supplies depot in preparation of the Normandy landings. After the war, the area was set out as a park and was named Coronation Park. The ?Ship? has for over 100 years been an establishment favoured by the officers, cadets and staff of Britannia Royal Naval College and we are very proud of that relationship. Linda, Jim and their staff will do their best to ensure you receive the welcome The Ship in Dock Inn has been providing for over 300 years.
We have tried to ensure the rooms are as similar as possible offering the same quality of luxury fittings and stunning river views. From the moment you step into your room, you will appreciate this is a very special place to stay. Pure wool carpets, solid oak furniture and bedding to make you dream. Look past the drapes and the view from the window is one of the best river views in Dartmouth, Devon. You?ll also find a flat screen freeview tv/dvd, hairdyer, iron/board and hospitality tray.
