Welcome to Silent World in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales, United Kingdom. Silent World is housed in an attractive 19th century chapel in interesting, if unusual surroundings. The Aquarium and Reptile Collection offers a fascinating view of all sorts of aquatic creatures as well as reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates.We are situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of Tenby and even closer to the North Beach car-park.
Downstairs the main tanks are arranged in habitat groups, containing fish and other creatures from the shores and ponds of Pembrokeshire. You will also be able to see exotic fish, amphibians and invertebrates.
Upstairs you will find our reptile display. Built in 1998 it houses a selection of snakes and lizards from around the world.
Silent World is one of the few indoor activities in Tenby and is open most of the year and Silent World, Tenby, Pembrokeshire, Wales, is a refuge in bad weather but best seen on a sunny day.
Children are expected to have experience of a wide variety of living things. We offer a professional and well planned approach to achieving this, using the several hundred species of British marine and freshwater animals, exotic fish, reptiles and amphibians displayed, as far as possible, in their natural environment.
A typical school visit to Silent World would begin with an introductory talk and slide show.
The children are then split into two groups for the aquatics and the reptiles. The groups are guided around both areas, having the opportunity to handle some of the reptiles.
The groups then come back together for a resume and study session using work sheets, or a lighthearted quiz.
This approach allows the children to obtain full educational value from their visit whilst getting personal enjoyment from the experience.
