Welcome to the St. Petersburg Pier, United States. The history of St. Petersburg Pier is as extensive as the city itself. The tale begins three years before the city’s inaugural incorporation in 1892 when the Railroad Pier was built in 1889 by the Orange Belt Railway. This first privately owned Pier was an immediate attraction for tourists and locals.
The Pier is open 365 days a year, rain or shine, Monday through to Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Attractions and restaurant hours vary. There is a free Pier Trolley service from the Dolphin and Pelican Parking Lots that runs from 7:00 a.m. until 1/2 hour after the last restaurant closes. challenges you may have. You can get to The Pier by taking I-275 to Exit 23A. This will be I-375, taking you into downtown St. Petersburg and will become 4th Avenue North. Take 4th Ave N until you reach Beach Drive and you will see The St. Petersburg Pier ahead of you - 1/4 mile out into Tampa Bay.
Depending on the season, you can catch anything from Amberjack to Shark, Snook, Flounder, or Sea Bass at The Pier in downtown St. Petersburg. Sheepshead have been caught weighing in excess of 7 pounds and black drum 6-15 pounds. For fishing pole rental, bait sales and snacks, see Joe at The Pier Bait House, located next to The Pier.
Fishing Charters are available in Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico from May to August.
