Stonefield Castle Hotel is a superb example of Scottish Baronial architecture, built in 1837 and originally home to the Campbell family. It is now an elegant Hotel with superb views over Loch Fyne, and only two miles from Tarbert, one of the most attractive fishing villages in the west of Scotland in the United Kingdom.
The village is well worth a visit to see the fishing boats and yachts coming and going. If you are lucky and patient, you may even observe a pod of dolphins that are sometimes to be found in the harbour.

Here in the sheltered cove running down to the Castle harbour and jetty on the shores of the Loch, is a scene reminiscent of the Reichi La Pass leading to Bhutan in the Himalayas. Magnificent species, such as the Arboreum, Campanulatum, Cinnabarinum and Triforum thrive as vigorously as in their native land. Many of the plants are over 100 years old, having been raised from seed collected by Sir Joseph Hooker on his Himalayan travels in a bygone era.
