Swanage Museum and Heritage Centre is situated at The Square of the towns lower High Street.
The Swanage Museum had originally been located in the Tithe Barn, half a mile inland but due to the poor condition of the building, the Museum had to be relocated.
The Swanage Museum and Heritage Centre, United Kingdom, is open from Easter to October each year from 10 am to 5 pm, even opening until 8pm in July and August.
Three "heritage trails" have been specially devised to help visitors find the fascinating features of "old Swanage".
The newly re-orientated Swanage Museum and Heritage Centre has refreshed exhibits and new displays and learning materials that give visitors and residents of Swanage a fascinating insight into the history of the town and its people.
The move to the Heritage Centre means that the Museum exhibits as well as the historical and social records/artefacts will receive a greater audience than ever before. Around 45,000 people visit the Heritage Centre each year compared to 2,500 people previously visiting the Museum.
